Glass installations:Ist Floor corridor and Front entrance

Dan Savage was commissioned to create colourful glass artworks for the glazed partitions in the physiotherapy corridors and the main hospital entrance. The intention was to create exciting focal points along the wall as well as to provide privacy for the treatment or activity taking place on the other side of the partitions.

Dan  worked with the Westhill Youth Action Project, a community youth group just outside Aberdeen, to inform the design. The group visited the hospital to see the existing artworks and we discussed which ones they particularly liked and why. Each member of the youth group had a sketchbook where they articulated and generated ideas for the artwork. The group was given free reign on a photographic trip to record what they considered to be the essence of their community. The results were amazing and underpinned the design of each artwork.
